Over 1 mile of single (left) bank fishing on the River Wye, 8 miles downstream of Builth Wells. The beat hosts a variety of fishing and is well known for its salmon pools. Trout fishing can be found in the rapids below Llangoed Pool and in the top half of the beat. Excellent coarse fishing can be found from the tail of Orchard downstream to Llangoed Pool. Large chub are the main quarry for coarse anglers with plenty of fish in the 2 to 5lb bracket. Bigger specimens are present, however. Other coarse species include dace, grayling, and the occasional barbel. Pike are also present.

Llanstephan operates an am/pm rotation with the Llangoed Beat (the opposite bank). Beat change over time is 1PM.
There is no beat split between 18th Oct and 2nd March
