Two fish from the Chapel Catch. 8lbs Hen from the lower Chapel, 20 lbs Hen from the Gutter below the Cemetery.
Both fish caught on a size 8 Logie tied on a single hook. Considering the time of the year, these fish were in good condition, viz. not very coloured. The latter fish, took all my line and about 50 yds of backing. Lovely day until the wind arrived and covered the river with leaves. More rain please S.M.S.

Not a bad day. Despite recent rain, level still quite low, overcast. Only caught one of the fish in the downstream section. Innumerable fish came off the hook, and missed many more takes. Biggest fish, 2 grayling 11/12" both on emerger dry. Majority caught on red bead ptn under a sedge, mostly in the slow, cloudier runs. Cottage section bypassed and didn't have time for the succession of pools near the top unfortunately. A mink also came along to the pool I was fishing and would not go away no matter how much I hissed at it.

Shortened session due to car trouble but still caught 5 Barbel up to 6lb, all on pellet. Would have caught more but fished a promising looking but seemingly barren swim before moving swims. River very low despite heavy rain the day before. First time fishing this venue and indeed any WUF fishery. A pleasant spot despite the diesel pump running, though only for a couple of hours. Will return though would like to try some other venues first.

5 Barbel
