First time on this beat. Arrived about 8.30 and decided that nymphs and 11'#3 were the weapon of choice as there was a strong downstream wind. Worked my way upstream and managed 13 grayling 2 trout and a small chub. All fell to a pink weighted shrimp on the point or ptn on the dropper.
Returned to the car for coffee and butties and then walked downstream. The first 200 yds or so was barren. Reached the "S" bend and caught a couple of grayling and the managed to go face first into the pool. No harm done but managed to fill my waders. Walking back to car to dry off and noticed a few fish rising just below the cottage.
Returned with the 6'#2 as the wind had died down and managed to winkle out a few more grayling on the dry.
Most fish around 6- 8 inches with 4 at 12 - 14 inches.
Lovely beat. Can't wait to fish it again.

River 1' 8" on the Llanstephan gauge with a little colour. Started fishing at 1pm in quite pleasant weather apart from a gusty downstream wind.
Grayling to 14" with most about 8" (and 3 shotts). Best trout 12" and one salmon parr. Team of three flies: beadhead GRHE on the point, snipe and purple and Hancock' pet on droppers. Most fish took the S&P. River rose noticeably at about 4pm at which point I called it a day.

As I struggled on HL4 earlier in the week, I decided to start on the lower section just past the woods. Walking over the hill behind the woods took considerable effort despite trimming my tackle to a minimum. I had an unforgettable but enjoyable day for many reasons. Barbel were my target species but I had bites throughout the day mostly from quality Chub, including a PB of 5lb 2oz. Feeder and Pellets were once again the chosen method. This was the last of a four day trip, and I would like to mention the excellent accommodation and hospitality at The Falcon House, situated between Hereford and ROW on the B4224. This is a quality B&B ideally situated for WUF anglers, especially if you like Owls! I should also mention the excellent food at The Moon in Mordiford just a few miles away.

Catch 10 graylings (or quite few more), and 4 BT... all taken with heavy nymphs. River was running quite fast, and clear in the morning. Water was coloured later in the afternoon, probably due to heavy showers. The day started extremely well, I caught a salmon of circa 8/9 pounds. It took me almost 1.30h, with my nymph rod truly under pressure, but in the end such beauty was landed. Fish had been carefully and safely released, after a well deserved recover of more than 15min. Great day!

Another interesting day at this beat and it didn't disappoint. Overcast day but no rain. Recent rainfall made life difficult with river full of leaves and twigs. Fished Czech style with jig hook nymphs and caught all on a Jonathan Barnes pattern (dropper) with my Black and Green PTN ignored. All Grayling from 10/12 inch. River started to rise later in the day, around 4 o,clock and wind picked up which made me call it a day. Lost two good fish. A nice touch was meeting the farmer who advised me not to worry but his cow's - "they are very friendly". He was right. A good day was had by all. Getting to like this beat very much.
