River low and clear after recent flood levels and the morning started cold but warmed up to become a lovely late autumn day. Started in the lower field and managed 3 barbel and several chub to feeder and boilie or pellet. Moved up into the wood mid morning but the pegs look to have seen a lot of attention with new swims and existing swims very trampled. We had no fish here. Interesting that the gate into the wood now has a sign for another angling club saying it is private fishing although it still shows on the Wye and Usk map for this stretch. We finished the day in the field above the wood and managed a good number of barbel to 8lb on feeder tactics. Enjoyable day.
Booking Office Note: This fishing sign (for White Swan Piscatorials) is an old sign and no longer applicable.

River was low and slightly coloured, and the weather was warm for October and sunny for most of the day. A couple of salmon showed in the lower end of the beat, but did not respond to the fly.

Fishing:Winter Grayling
No. of Anglers:2
Fished 10 till 5. Heard fish rising from the off, but often hard to see in sun-dappled riffle and breeze, and so fished IOBO, small hare's ear and dark olive emergers all day. A day fraught in the afternoon by a seemingly almost incessant downstream wind which, at times, made decent presentation a nightmare, and not from the direction forecast!!! However it was quite warm and, as anticipated, some fish rose on and off all day in the foam / leaf lanes and they were usually grayling. Fish which weren't rising were looking up and duly obliged. It is always amazing, but never a surprise, at what a huge difference a brief calm spell of just a few minutes makes to the presence or absence of rising fish at this time of year! We were delighted to have had quite a productive day under such frequently adverse conditions. Trout to 12", and grayling to 13" with the 8-10" year-class dominant.
10 Trout, 35 Grayling
