Darlington Brown Trout Angling Associations offers approximately 3 miles of brilliant fly fishing water on the north bank of the river Tees for brown trout, grayling and salmon. The beat is FLY ONLY.

There is plenty of variety. It is exceptional fly water for free rising fish with excellent numbers of brown trout, grayling and salmon. The water in character has a wonderful mixture of deep holding pools and long gravelly runs.

This section of the river is superb salmon water, and offers fantastic opportunity for a salmon, with the main runs between mid-August and October.

Wading on the beat is average and care must always be taken, a wading staff is always advisable.

For brown trout, all the water fishes exceptionally well with spiders, nymphs and dry fly fishing being the order of the day. For the modern angler, euro nymphing is an effective method. Fishing with a 9ft to 10ft rod, line rating #3/4/5 is the perfect choice. For salmon, the option of switch rods to 14ft salmon rods will be ideal and low water doubles and a mixture of tubes work well for varied conditions.

Winter grayling sport is excellent.
