Approximately 1½ miles of mostly double bank fishing, situated a few miles above Brecon, Penpont provides some excellent river Usk wild brown trout fishing. As is normally the case with the Usk, the fishing is usually better early season with April, May and June being the most productive months. Any rain at the height of summer, however, can improve chances drastically. Dropping temperatures make September a good time to try too.

Penpont also produces the occasional sewin and salmon, with the best chances being late season with a bit of water. The beat is best suited to the stealthy angler. It is generally fishable throughout its length with a nice mixture of pocket water and dry fly flats.

Please be aware that during school holidays, bank holidays and hot days especially, you may encounter other river users. Guests from the estate may be present at Penpont bridge and there is also a campsite at the bottom end of the fishery.. Please contact us before booking should you have any queries about this.

4 rods are available to book each day, 2 via WUF and 2 via the house (although either party can book all 4). This means that a booking of 1,2 or 3 rods does not guarantee exclusivity.

Half price evening tickets can be purchased after 1pm on the day of fishing. Fishing is allowed from 5pm.
